The accommodation at the Murchison Lodge consists of four bedrooms along with a large communal lounge, dining area and covered verandas.

There is a large guest lounge with sofas gathered around a large wood burner and another section of seats in a bay window looking out onto the garden.

Your hosts live in the cottage adjacent to the main building so booking the whole Lodge gives you exclusive use. The Lodge sleeps up to nine people.

A guest fridge is available in the Lounge along with facilities to make hot drinks.

There is a sheltered veranda with tables and seating for guests to enjoy – feel free to wander the four acres of garden and paddocks and meet the livestock.

Get exclusive use of the Murchison Lodge for groups of friends or family of up to eight persons having a get-together, holiday, celebration or corporate function.

Food & Drinks at Murchison Lodge

Upon your arrival at Murchison Lodge (ideally, sometime between 3pm and 7pm) you will be welcomed with the offer of a drink, and, if useful, a chat about the local area.

Your stay will include a full breakfast, the timing of which is flexible. Unless otherwise specified, we usually are ready at 8am.

For evening meals you may either choose from our menu or head into town to the various cafés and pubs. See below for more details on what is available.

Complimentary at the Murchison Lodge

Being a B&B, of course the breakfast is included in your room rate.

Breakfast is a communal meal served at the dining room table. With an array of cereals, muesli, yogurt, fresh fruits, juices, cold cuts platter, home baked bread, jams and bacon and eggs on demand.

In the lounge there is an area for guests to help themselves at any time to tea, coffee and cold drinks and snacks.

The fridge holds milk and filtered water and has space for guest items as well.

Bar or BYO

For your convenience we have a small selection of wines, beers and whiskies.

We stock a local selection of white wines in the fridge and red wines at room temperature. Wine can be bought for $20 a bottle.

Cold beers are in the fridge and cost $4 per 330ml bottle.

Scotch single malt whisky (2cl) is available for $8.

If you prefer to bring your own drinks there is room in the fridge and glasses available for use.

Evening Meals

There are various cafés and restaurants in Murchison providing a variety of dining experiences. They are all just a 10 minute stroll (approx. 600m) from the Lodge. Please ask us for ideas when you arrive.

Terms & Conditions

Payment Policy

For bookings of four room nights or more we require a (non-refundable) 30% deposit 90 days before the arrival date; otherwise payment is made on departure. Tariff includes the New Zealand Goods and Services Tax of 15%.

Cancellation Policy

If the booking is cancelled within seven days of arrival, we reserve the right to charge the cost of the total booking. We will endeavour to on-sell cancelled rooms and will refund accordingly. We highly recommend travel insurance for those unforeseen circumstances which disrupt travel plans at the last minute.

Child Policy

Please note that we are unable to cater for children under the age of 12.
